Asphalt costs continue to rise
We had hoped, due to the ongoing economic decline, that asphalt shingle costs would decrease in the months to come. However, asphalt shingle manufacturers have just announced an approximately 10% increase for March 2nd, 2009. Thus it is now apparent, at least in the short term that asphalt shingle costs will continue to rise, and fairly substantially! Industry insiders also warn that the federal government's plan to implement an economic stimulus package to fund development and maintenance of roads and highways will create more demand for asphalt, which will most likely drive asphalt costs even higher. Considering this and other factors, if you need a new roof, we continue to advise you not to postpone your project. Otherwise you are likely to pay much more if asphalt continues to increase in cost.
