As of March 6th, 2023, if you need to repair or replace your roof, the next month or so would be a great time to get it done. The residential roofing business in the Kansas City area is as slow as I have seen it in at least 20 years. Like everything else in our free market economy, supply and demand dictate price. Right now, there are a whole bunch of roofing contractors in Kansas City (supply), that have very little demand for their roofing services. I feel silly telling people “we’re down, come kick us”. I can’t speak for everyone, but after the ups and downs over 56 years in business, I know Larry Vaught Roofing will get back up. It is better to forego profits for a while and just cover our costs so we can maintain a workforce to make a profit with when demand starts to pick up. Winters are always a slower time of year for roofing companies in Kansas City, but there must be other forces at work that I won’t pretend to understand, except to again say this is the slowest winter I have seen in at least 20 years!
